Italian is my second favorite cuisine after Pan Asian. I also find Italian cuisine to be perfect for a romantic mood or occasion. So, it was but natural that I picked this newly opened outlet of Chianti in Indiranagar for my Anniversary 🙂 By now, I’ve had 2 back to back visits to this place…first as mentioned for my anniversary and then another one almost within a week after for my daughter’s birthday…:-)
This outlet is located on 12th Main Indiranagar, Opp to the Lakme Salon n Mother Clucker’s Pub. It has 2 kinds of seating, an outdoor quasi al fresco and the more cosy n warm indoor seating. We tried both over the 2 visits and loved em…the al fresco is perfect for a lazy brunch or a spaced out lunch.
In terms of food…we tried a wide spread over the 2 visits,
The Red wine Sangria was one of the best I’ve had…with a perfect mix of pears, bitter orange rind and apples. Best for a early to late afternoon meal.
The Mushroom n Pear Salad was a surprise package for us…Raw Mushrooms sliced into thin slivers served with again thinly sliced Pears…n crunchy lettuce with a generous sweet balsamico drizzle. Loved it 🙂
We tried 2 kinds of roasted Eggplant rolls. One stuffed with goat cheese, Rucola and sun-dried tomatoes and another with crumbly mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes. Both were quite similar in terms of look and presentation. The one with goats cheese tasted better though.
My wife being a big lover of the Funghi…we ordered the Stuffed n Roasted Mushrooms with Garlic, Parsley n Olive Oil. Again…another lovely dish.
Penne Al Pesto : Now this was a disappointment…We love our Pesto with Pasta…but this one was watery…I loved it thick with a generous drizzle of EVOO. Not ordering this again or if I do…will make sure I tell them how I want it.
Ordered some Rosemary Potato Wedges to go with the Penne Al Pesto…Was pretty good but alas…my Penne Al Pesto was not good enough to go with it 😉
Spinach n Ricotta Ravioli with Smoked cheese, mushroom n cream sauce was was a subtle n delectable dish…Loved it 🙂
The Spinach flavored Gnocchi with a cream n mushroom sauce was another lovely and subtle dish with a melt in your mouth soft gnocchi and that lovely creamy mushroom sauce 🙂
The Cannelloni with Spinach and Ricotta has to be the best Cannelloni we’ve had in a very long time..soft pasta…fresh spinach n ricotta filling…a punchy tomato sauce and topped off with fresh n stringy mozzarella….Heavenly 🙂
After all that vegetarian fare…I finally ordered a Pollo Al Ripieni, Chicken breast rolled n stuffed with stringy mozzarella, sage, asparagus…pan sauteed in olive oil and served with a side of rosemary potatoes….A yummy dish…and a big portion too.
I must also speak about the warm n very fluffy bread they serve with a pesto/herbed butter. You can simply keep stuffing yourself on this lovely bread…so pls beware 🙂
If you are going to an Italian restaurant…you have to try their Tiramisu or Gelato if they have it. Chianti does not have a Gelato…but they do have their Tiramisu which came highly recommended. And it lived up to its reputation…one of the best Tiramisu’s I’ve had in a long time…Moist…Perfect coffee flavor…and that nice crunchy n nutty biscotti. Mmmm…yummy 🙂
Service was impeccable…very efficient, helpful and attentive without being over-whelming.
The average cost would be in the range of 1500-2000 for 2 without alcohol. Slightly expensive…but for the quality of food and level of service n ambience…I would say it is worth it 🙂
Ambience : 4/5
Food : 4/5

VFM : 3.5/5
Overall Rating : 4/5
Highly recommended for all Italian food lovers and I’m going back again…n again 🙂
